Kurkuri Bhindi is a fantastic and easy-to-make dish that’s perfect for snacking or as a side. It’s essentially crispy okra slices with a burst of flavors. The best part? You can make it in your air fryer, making it a healthier alternative to traditional frying. To whip up this crunchy delight, start by thinly slicing about 2 cups of fresh okra. In a bowl, toss the okra with some cumin coriander powder, a bit of chili powder for a kick, and a generous sprinkle of chat masala for that zesty flavor. Don’t forget a pinch of salt to enhance all the other tastes.
Now, here comes the magic combo: 3 tablespoons of rice flour and 3 tablespoons of chickpea flour (besan). This duo gives the okra its delightful crunch when it meets the hot air fryer. Mix it all up until every okra slice is coated in this flavorful blend. To bring it all together, add 2 tablespoons of oil to the mix. This not only helps the flour stick to the okra but also ensures that each piece gets that perfect crispiness in the air fryer. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) while you coat the okra. Once ready, spread the slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Let the air fryer work its magic for about 12-15 minutes. Remember to give the basket a shake halfway through to guarantee an even crisp.
And there you have it! A plate full of Kurkuri Bhindi, golden brown, irresistibly crispy, and bursting with Indian flavors. It’s a healthier snack option that doesn’t compromise on taste. You can even sprinkle a bit more chat masala for an extra flavor boost. This recipe not only satisfies your cravings for something crunchy but also adds a nutritious touch with the goodness of okra. So, next time you’re in the mood for a tasty, guilt-free snack, give this Air-Fried Kurkuri Bhindi a try – your taste buds will thank you!
