Spicy Onion Pakoda waffles

Ingredients

  • 1 cup red onion thinly sliced
  • 2-3 green chili finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 4-5 curry leaves finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp mint chutney or 4-5 mint leaves finely chopped
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup besan gram flour/chickpea flour
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Oil as needed to roast the waffles

Instructions

  • In a bowl add sliced onions, spices, coriander leaves, curry leaves, mint leaves and combine well.
  • To this add besan, rice flour and combine until well coated.
  • Add 2-3 tbsp water or a little more to make the batter stick to onions. Make sure the batter is thick.
  • Heat up the waffle iron, brush it with oil, pour the batter, apply little oil on top, close and roast for 1 cycle.
  • Turn the waffle and roast for a few more mins to make it crispy. Serve hot with ketchup.
